Bodil, David & Cozette Baddley, Mark Bvk and I pulled the windmill up on our roof on August 14th, 1999. It was a delight.
On the 22nd we pulled it down again for improvements. The improvements increased the sensitivity of the windmill, but also made it rock in stronger winds. That night, there was a big moon, and very strong winds. It rocked and rocked all night. Bodil and I didn't sleep so well. On the 23rd, I went to Palo Alto Hardware, and bought a lazy susan, a mechanical part which would eliminate the rocking. When I got home, the top part had rocked itself right through the quarter inch central bolt and blown down, fouling itself in the structure. As of now it's a topless windmill.
